News: Skyfall, Bond is back

Skyfall is the name of the new James Bond film.

It has been confirmed that Bond 23 will be named, SKYFALL. Set for release on October 26th 2012, Daniel Craig returns as 007, with Judi Dench "M" by his side. The cast will include Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Albert Finney, Berenice Marlohe and Naomie Harris.

All we await now is to know who will be recording the Skyfall theme. Filming has already started in London, and other filming locations will include China, Istanbul and Scotland.

The Walking Dead Season 2 returns....

If you haven't yet watched an episode of The Walking Dead, then boy are you missing out. This Zombie drama is something special. Amongst the walking dead, theres very good acting, and tight story lines, which keep the viewer gripped and wanting more. It can get gory at times but the whole plot just feels real.

I'd recommend watching series 1 first, then moving on to series 2, currently being aired on TV, (FX uk) Take a look at the trailer it's a must see!

The Dark Knight Rises: News

The Dark Knight Rises will complete Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy. Filming may start around April 2011, with a release date of 20th July 2012. It is said that this will be Christian Bale's last performance as Batman.

Anne Hathaway is to play Catwoman, and Tom Hardy will play the villain, Bane. The Joker will not return in this film and Two-Face is said to be unlikely to return.

Warner Bros were pushing for the film to be shot in 3D, but Nolan strongly disagrees, and it looks as if The Dark Night Rises won't be a 3D film.

Bond 23: News

It seems a long way off until Bond 23, but filming is due to begin late this year, with a release date set for 9th November 2012. This will be the longest gap for a Bond film release without the lead role changing. Daniel Craig is set to play Bond again. Judi Dench is confirmed as "M", but will this be her last role in the Bond films. Also Sam Mendes will direct Bond 23.

I'm excited already, I shall post more news as it comes.

Review: Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

It's here, the biggest film of the summer. It smashes everything else to bits, it is purely, a film to die for!

Now people said, "ow it's rubbish! Theres no plot, it's just a load of carnage and crushed metal." Well yes there are very good special effects, But really there is a plot, I can't see many problems with it, ok it may stray a little, but remember, no films perfect.

Transformers 2 sets aside all the competition, and delivers in my eyes. The film is fantastic, and I need to see it again really. I absolutely love the comedy element to the film. People were chuckling away in the cinema, isn't that what these films are all about? There's funny robots, embarrassing parents, humping dogs, it's got it all, what more could you ask for. Perhaps a shorter running time, the films two and a half hours long. Many people were struggling in their seats by the two hour mark. Some scenes are pretty pointless, so a squeeze to two hours would be fine.

As the adventure deepens, we see more new robots added to the equation, be sure to keep on the ball so you don't get confused who's fighting for who. With that in mind, enjoy a brilliant film that will blow you away, hold on to your seats, T2 is here. 9/10

The Hangover

Funniest film I've seen in a while, absolutely brilliant!

Basically, you haven't lived if you've not seen this movie. It's not a masterpiece, but it's so funny that there's not much chance to gain your breath, then your laughing again. Some brilliant characters in this film too. And if you think you've seen all the best parts in the trailers, then think again, there's plenty more laughs to come.

But really, go see this film, I bet when you come out you will want a friend to get hitched, so the bachelor or stag party can be in Vegas baby! 9/10

Absolutely fantastic, finally a horror film worth the watch. Director Sam Raimi has done us proud!

Right from the start of this film I was jumping out of my seat. From there on in, I thought I'm in for a brilliant rough ride. Fantastically written, Drag me to Hell is a brilliant come back for Raimi horror. Every character in the film has a purpose, the most memorable being the old lady, who is a creation of absolute perfection.

You wouldn't think it but apart from horror there's a comedy element in the film also. Don't be surprised if your sat there at one point in complete terror, and the next in fits of laughter. It's genius. It's a film I'm going to say everyone must see, a film that takes horror by the balls, and ow, watch out for the old lady. 9/10

Review: Fighting (2009)

Starring: Channing Tatum and Terrence Howard

In New York City, a young counterfeiter is introduced to the world of underground street fighting by a seasoned scam artist, who becomes his manager on the bare-knuckling brawling circuit.

Well what can I say, not the best type of this genre of film, but Howard does pull off a good performance. Channing Tatum however, could do better. There's a very good story line here, and it could have been a brilliant film, but director Dito Montiel fails to impress.

Negatives aside, the film isn't too bad, it's watchable, go and see it see what you think. Unfortunately for the poor direction this film gets 2/10. View trailer here.

Review: Watchmen (2009)

"Love it or hate it, Watchmen is perhaps one of, if not, the best film of 2009. Watchmen sets the new standard for comic book movies, the unfilmable just broke all the rules!"

Fanboys have been waiting years for the release of the greatest film of all time. Did they get it? Based on one of the greatest Graphic Novels of all time, Watchmen delivers a dark, violent and wonder full perception of superheroes looking to bring justice to America.

Right from the start when the Comedian was murdered, that electrifying fight scene set the standard for the whole film. I knew that this was going to be good. And it was. Keeping you glued to the screen, right till the end.

Each character plays an excellent part, my favourite being Rorschach, having that dark mysterious presence behind that mask. Watchmen not being your usual comic book movie, looks into a side of superheroes we've never seen in a film before. It's just brilliant.

The most brutal comic book movie ever made, certainly made it's mark on the big screen. And a big well done to Zack Snyder, what such vision he has, and the balls to do it. If your planning to see Watchmen, try to flick through the novel, if not, then stay focused, there's allot to take in.

Watchmen is truly magnificent, a film that's totally mind blowing. And ill be watching it again and again, for years to come. 10/10

Pineapple Express - "Maybe one of the best comedy's off 2008"
Starring: Seth Rogen, James Franco.

Well, this film had me in stitches, and it will you to. A definite must see comedy. The plot sees Dale (Seth Rogen) witness a murder between rival drug gangs, but they know he saw the murder, so start chasing him down. Dale enrolls the help of his drug dealer Saul (James Franco) to try and fend off the people trying to kill him.

Seth and James play two amazing parts in this film, Your not laughing all the way through, but when the laughs come there brilliant. From the quirky comments to the incredible fight scenes, the one in the house is hilarious, the film is cleverly constructed throughout. If your looking for a laugh one night, rent or buy this film, it's a must see. 8/10

"I was expecting more, but to be honest it wasn't that bad, was it?"

Before I'd even seen this film there were many bad reviews, but I wanted to see for myself. Everyone has different opinions in the end. I came out feeling the film had been badly written, and some scenes in the film were pointless, verging laughable. On the other hand, I was feeling it wasn't that bad, it was watchable, and was sort of money well spent.

The film could have been more cleverly constructed, perhaps better acting, but Keanu played his part quite well I thought. The whole film needed stepping up a gear, if it had, this could have been a brilliant film, the potential was there, but it lacked everything needed to make it that brilliant movie it should have been. 5/10

"Not outstanding, but what a great video game adaptation"

There's something I liked about this film, I'm not sure what it is yet, but it's there. Stunning visual effects carried this film throughout. There was some poor acting in places, but Whalburg played his part quite well I thought, perhaps that's because I like him as an actor anyway.

Based on the video game, could this film be one of the best video game to movie we have seen? I think so. The fact that Max becomes obsessed with finding his wife's killer, really intrigues me, he's hunting throughout the film, guns blazin', killing sprees. Wonderful.

I won't spoil the film for people who have not yet seen it but there's a great twist to who the killer is near the end. Could anybody see that coming? Overall, I'd pay to see Max Payne, a bit of action and suspense is what we need some time. Not outstanding, but what a great video game adaptation. 6/10

Above are 6 new Watchmen posters which have surfaced on the Internet. They include the six main characters of Zack Snyder's epic film Wathcmen. Taken from DC Comics, the film looks to be a huge hit when it's released in June 2009.

Watchmen News: Directer Zack Snyder has sparked fan fury claiming there will be a non squid ending in the movie, his earlier claims lead us to believe he wasn't changing much of the script based on the graphic novel. Read more over at ComicBookMovie.com.

Also there is confirmation that a second trailer will screen in the previews before Quantum of Solace, released 14Th November 2008 in the US. It is to include new footage and will give us a more in depth view of the movie. A third trailer is due for release early next year.

Review: Taken

"This is Liam Neeson at his best, a definite must see!"

When I saw the trailer for this film I thought this film looks good, and of course it was. The film sees a former spy called Bryan (Neeson) having to use his old skills to save his daughter when she's kidnapped, but the reason she was taken is every parents worst nightmare. Bryan only has a 96 hour window to find his daughter, or she will be lost forever.

What a brilliant film from start to finish, at the start we see exactly what sort of job Bryan is involved in, little does he know he will need those very skills to save his daughter. The film seems to be some sort of cross between Bond and Bourne, very well constructed, a brilliant plot that brings awareness to what is happening in the real world.

I'd recommend Taken as a must see film, if you like your action thriller flicks you won't be disappointed. 9/10

Review: Quantum of Solace

I don't want to start off on a negative note but there's much bad press about this film not "living up to the original James Bonds", "Quantum of Solace was not a great Bond film", "Daniel Craig just isn't right as Bond". But what we need to realise is that the Bond films seem to be moving into a new and exciting direction, Sean and Roger were excellent Bond's, but their day has now gone, Daniel Craig is taking it into a new era, and it's going to be good!

Quantum of Solace is a direct sequel to Casino Royal, a film which set the new standard for Bond films, so I'd watch this film first before seeing Quantum of Solace. Quantum of Solace sees Bond looking to track down the organization which he feels is responsible for his lovers death, which we see at the end of Casino Royal. He feels he can avenge her death by finding the very people who drove her to it. Reports that Bond goes completely rouge in this film are not true, however we do see him not obeying orders from "M", Judi Dench, which she does a fantastic job as always.

Bond 22 is a fantastic film, it may have slight flaws, but let's be honest, most films do. Quantum of Solace did have alot to live up to, especially after the success of Casino Royal. Daniel Craig did a brilliant job, and I just love the way he makes a Bond film, a great Bond film. This film may have reminded us of a certain "Bourne franchise" but it still was made it's own. Yes there was a lack of gadgets, but there was plenty of action to keep us occupied. The villain Dominic Greene, played by Mathieu Amalric did a good job, but could there have been a better villain cast?

Overall this was a great film which ill be seeing again and again, well, some parts were confusing at times. Daniel Craig's doing a fine job, support is what he needs, let's hope that Bond 23 lives up to something which we will never forget. 8/10

Will we be watching the Watchmen?

So now the hype for Quantum of Solace is almost over, and the Dark Knight is well in the past, will we now all be following one of the most anticipated films for 2009, Watchmen?

It's safe to say that films originating from Comic Books become huge hits, and the internet hype can be enormous. If watching the trailer for Watchmen makes you shiver, then you've certainly been bitten by the bug. I know I have. I'm sure you have too.

But sometimes these big money making film companies can release too much pre-release content, and so spoiling the surprises, or just the entire film. I suppose if you don't want to know then don't watch or read. But with so many sites out there now releasing that content, it's hard not to.

We could all do with a little taster now and again, as Watchmen isn't due for release until June 2009. So what's the film all about? Read below:

"A complex, multi-layered mystery adventure, the film is set in an alternate 1985 America in which costumed superheroes are part of the fabric of everyday society, and the "Doomsday Clock", which charts the USA's tension with the Soviet Union, is permanently set at five minutes to midnight. When one of his former colleagues is murdered, the washed-up but no less determined masked vigilante Rorschach sets out to uncover a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes.

As he reconnects with his former crime-fighting legion, a ragtag group of retired superheroes, only one of whom has true powers, Roschach glimpses a wide-ranging and disturbing conspiracy with links to their shared past and catastrophic consequences for the future. Review: Saw V

Directed by: David Hackl, Starring: Tobin Bell as Jigsaw.

Well here we have it, the fifth instalment of the Saw series. Mark Hoffman and Agent Strahm are much of the focus this time round. But whilst trying to uncover the truth one shall meet a crushing end, whilst the other will live to continue Jigsaw's work, undetected. Also 5 more people are put to the test, and must do the opposite of their instincts to survive. But will they listen carefully enough to the tape?

It's hard trying not to give too much away really, the film sets it's self out from the start, we kind of know who's who. There are many flashback too, used to uncover the truth. The film starts with quite a gory test, but is that test really real. We see alot more depth in the film and perhaps less gore and frights. But come on, surely we need to get to the bottom of this franchise. Unanswered questions are left, will these be revelled in Saw VI?, We shall have to wait and see.

Overall it wasn't bad, money well spent, I wasn't demanding a refund! There are twists and turns, but maybe you will see them coming, or it was obvious that was going to happen, whatever, see it for yourself. "You won't believe how it ends" 7/10

Review: Death Race

Death Race sees a man wrongly accused of murdering his wife sent to prison, but whilst there he learns there's a more sinister reason for him being there

Well I loved this film, loads of action, cars, women, perfect cocktail of destruction. That's what this film did best, destruction. Some great scenes involving crashes and pure carnage! I did feel that perhaps we could have seen more of a plot to the film instead of just death and destruction, but Jason Statham being such the great actor he is, pulled it off.

Loved the film totally, get and see it if you already haven't, something for the lads I think. Death Race will blow your mind, not literally though. 8/10

I didn't really know what to expect from this film. I loved the trailers at the start for each of the main characters, then thought this is going to be fun. Which it was, I had a few laughs, and came out surprised at who actually played one of the characters. The film consists of a group of actors trying to make the greatest war movie ever made, or not. The director wants his shots, so sends the actors into a warzone, which they soon find out there facing real armed drug gangs.

The films funny at points, not hilarious, but your always smiling. It's well worth a watch, and brill if your a Ben Stiller fan. This spoof style war flick comes across as a great laugh, and a movie worth watching. 7/10 So.....go "Get Some"

Eden Lake begins with a couple from out of town enjoying a relaxing break in the country. But then run into trouble, after meeting a group of youths along the way. But a series of events leads the youths into creating a bloody, horrific mess, something which the couple could not have imagined in their wildest dreams.

After seeing the opening scene to this film, I wondered, why did I buy the ticket? But after 10 minutes I began to see that this was going to be a half decent film. Which it was. Yes there was blood and gore, and violence I haven't seen in a film for a while. But this film does highlight the problems the UK is facing today. That teen gang, and knife culture.

All I will say is be prepared, it's shocking at some parts, which leads up to an unforgettable ending. Perhaps the horror of this film will bring awareness to whats happening on the streets today. 8/10

What a rocknrolla of a film that was! Typical Guy Ritchie. Having enjoyed Snatch, I knew I'd love this film, and I did. The scenes were great, the humor was great, couldn't fault it really.

RocknRolla is the first of three films, and it's sure set the standard for the next. Having a Director like Guy Ritchie, you can expect Brit humor and conversations at it's very best. All the characters make sense, and there's a purpose for them all.

Some scenes get left unfinished, and so we'll learn their fate in the next films. I'd definitely recommend seeing this film, then you'll be geared up for the next installment, "The Real RocknRolla" 8/10

After reading some reviews on this film, I wasn't expecting much. I didn't realise I would be expecting nothing at all! Terrible, just terrible.

I quickly found myself becoming board, and thinking how I enjoyed the first two Mummies, and that this film wasn't working for me. It was just the rubbish stunts and fake looking creatures. Not to mention the bad jokes and boring plot.

I haven't really much to say about this film, except if your going to see it, don't. See something else. You will only be disappointed, and waste money. Now we don't want that.... 4/10

I want to believe that this was a great film, but sadly I can't. Perhaps I expected more from the sketchy trailers we were shown. The film came across as a drama, more than a sci-fi thriller. I kept thinking, should this really be on the big screen at all?

I can't help thinking this was a bit of a money maker for it's cast, not much thought in producing a brilliant X Files plot. I was disappointed, but as the film went on I began to get into the feel of it, even if Billy Connolly kept annoying the hell out of me!

It was good but not brilliant, I don't think I wasted my money. That could be up for debate. Hardcore X Files fans won't be disappointed, David and Gillian did well. Lets just hope something better comes out of this. Sadly.... 4/10

What an applause this film deserves. Not just Joker himself, but all the characters in this masterpiece. Brilliantly constructed, you can't find fault with any of the acting. It's just amazing. What I like about this film is just how Batman goes through an amazing transformation, and the relationship Batman and Joker have with each other, which ultimately makes for a spectacular, and perhaps surprising ending.

I just want to see this film again and again. In my eyes The Dark Knight is the 'film of the Summer, even the year.' In the end it was worth all the hype and media attention Dark Knight received, it just made me even more hyped up to see this film

If you haven't yet seen this spectacular film, then get down to your local cinema today, enjoy and revel in it, you won't be disappointed. Top marks 10/10

Not surprisingly, The Dark Knight made $155.34m in it's first weekend! The biggest amount ever. Beating off Spiderman 3, which made $151.1m.

"We knew it would be big, but we never expected to dominate the marketplace like we did," said Dan Fellman, head of distribution for Warner Bros.

They estimate the film will exceed the $200m mark by the end of the week.

Three people find themselves embarking on an epic journey, trying to find out if the tellings of a book really mean there's another world at the center of the Earth.

I suppose this film was ok. It was adventurous. It reminded me a bit of an Indiana Jones film. Great plot, another world at the center of the Earth. I thought there should be more structure to it, more detail perhaps. Although this is a great film for kids. Try and see a 3D version, it makes the film more worth while. But i kept thinking, "more 3D effects, more 3D effects!"

Overall, some good scenes, and I liked the little glow bird following them everywhere. 5/10
